Steel Section
At Willsden Steel, we supply a wide range of structural steel sections to meet the demands of modern construction and engineering projects. Our stock complies with both European and UK steel standards, ensuring consistent quality and performance.

Structural Steel Sections – Cut to Size & Delivered Fast
Steel section
Most of our structural steel products are specified to the European standard EN 10025, the key benchmark for structural steels across the EU and UK. While national standards still exist, EN 10025 remains the most widely used framework for specifying mechanical properties and classification.

Common Structural Steel Grades
We stock and supply popular grades such as:
• S275
• S355
• S420
• S460
These grades indicate the minimum yield strength in megapascals (MPa). For example:
•S275 = 275 MPa
•S355 = 355 MPa
Grade Designations Explained
Structural steel grades are typically identified by a combination of letters and numbers, such as S275J2 or S355K2W, where:
•S = Structural steel (not engineering steel)
•275 / 355 = Yield strength (in MPa)
•J2 / K2 = Toughness level, based on Charpy impact testing
•W = Weathering steel, ideal for outdoor exposure
Other designations may include:
•N / NL = Fine grain structural steel
•Q / QL = Quenched and tempered steel
•M / ML = Thermomechanically rolled steel
High-Strength Structural Steel
For projects requiring high-performance materials, we also supply higher-grade quenched and tempered steels, including:
•S500
•S550
•S620
•S690
•S890
•S960
Although steels above S690 are rarely used in construction, they are available upon request for specialized applications.
Standard profiles
A set of euronorms define the shape of a set of standard structural profiles:
- European I-beam: IPE – Euronorm 19-57
- European I-beam: IPN – DIN 1025-1
- European flange beams: HE – Euronorm 53-62
- European channels: UPN – DIN 1026-1
